From Blue Equinox II.....

With Juki Wu's defeat and severe beating by Valerie Fox, Demon Keyoto has just received the news. Since the battle for Demon Island, Keyoto has spent most of his time rebuilding. An outbreak of cholera broke out on the island from the enormous amount of battle dead rotting over the island. Gen. Hiroto, Erisu, and Edosu were sent to the UR Goodwill Tournament before the outbreak. Many Demons became sick, including Demon Devin and Estrada. Forty soldiers died from this outbreak. During the worst days of the outbreak, former CM Millberg helped Keyoto with the rebuilding and providing valuable medical help to the Demon troops. Devin and Estrada soon recovered and by late October the island was back in order. Keyoto is concerned that he hasn't heard from Yellow Demon in months. Yellow Demon has been on a mission for Keyoto, Keyoto has also told all but his top staff that Yellow Demon died in battle.

Demon Keyoto reads Valerie Fox's note and roars with anger. Demon Devin says, "What's the matter master? Bad news? Is Hiroto in trouble?" Keyoto screams, "Juki has been badly beaten by Valerie Fox. How could this be. Hiroto was ordered to keep an eye on Juki. I was hoping he could persuade her to come home with us. I has hoping when YD returns he would come back to see Juki here." Devin smiles to herself and says, "Poor, poor Juki. Again it seems she can't back up all of her talk. Isn't she engaged to Royal Dragon Juno Kamihoto?" Keyoto says, "Yes, but that is a sham marriage. Juki couldn't be as happy with Royal Dragon as she was with YD." Devin says, "So what do you plan to do about it?" Keyoto fist clinch and yells, "I can't just ignore Valerie Fox's challenge. I trusted her and now she injured Juki. I have to step into YD's place and defend her honor." Devin replies, "Are you serious, Juki left this place when we needed her. She is now shacked up with a Kogasuma royal. I bet she doesn't even care about us and the months of agony we had to endure. Let YD handle this when he returns. Why would you want to fight the only good source of inside information we have on the CM? " Keyoto raises from his throne and yells, "How dare you question my motives. I am the leader of this clan little girl, you are not to question my decisions. This note was signed in Juki's blood, I have to respond!" Devin backs off and cowers. Keyoto adds, "You will take my note to Valerie Fox. I will send our new lead archer Striker Sanhoro with you." Keyoto writes a letter and hands it to Devin. He says, "Don't disappoint me!" Devin replies with a evil grin, "I am your only female that can do the job without causing our clan any embarrassments." Devin and Sanhoro leave that night.

Three days later, Devin, Sanhoro and two Demon troops walk through the forest Valerie Fox is known to train her Blue Archers. It is a crisp fall day and the leaves of the oaks, elms, and maples are falling around them as the autumn breeze blows. Devin and Sanhoro decide to split up to cover more ground. As Devin and a Demon trooper walk down a pathway, Devin hears someone say, "Carrot juice.....oh, carrot juice!" Devin eyes widen as she recognizes the voice. As she turns she sees JC Fox leaning against a tree. The Demon trooper starts for JC but Devin orders him to stand down. Devin smiles and says, "I will never live that down I see. JC Fox! It's good to see you. "Devin orders the trooper to leave. JC and Devin walk up to each other, Devin walks around JC.

JC says, "So why are you here Carrot Juice? Are you here to visit, it's been a long time." Devin says, "I have a letter that is to be delivered to your sister Valerie. Demon Keyoto wishes to confront her over the beating your sister inflicted onto her." JC grins and says, "Oh does he. Why would he bother with defending Juki Wu? She started the trouble with Val. Come to think of it Keyoto started the trouble with Mel too, it seems he is in the wrong." Devin says, "I agree, our clan has more pressing issues to deal with than these petty feuds. I know Valerie give Keyoto good information in the past on CM activities, it's his love for Yellow Demon that has caused this." JC gets an evil smile on her face as Devin laughs, "I know, I know, but Keyoto really likes Juki too. He wants her to come back." JC says, "I'm sure you don't really like that possibility?" Devin clinches her fist and says, "Honestly, I wish your sister would have killed Juki. I hate her more than anyone I've ever met. She is phony and she slepted her way to the top of the clan. Our clan fought greatly in our battle against the CLG without her. We only have trouble when she's around. Keyoto needs to move on." Devin hands JC the note. JC says, "How have you been, were you hurt during the battle? How are you doing in the clan?" Devin says, "Fine, we had a very long battle and our island was badly damaged but it's come back into working order. I was sick for two weeks after the battle, the island was covered in dead bodies and disease broke out. As for me and the clan, I feel Keyoto doesn't trust me at all times. That is why he sent this archer, Striker Sanhoro, with me. He fears my family's name and legacy. He has treated me much better after the battle though." JC says, "Good, I'm glad you have a family of sorts to live with. I hope your success continues." Striker Sanhoro and the troops see Devin and JC and walk up to them. Devin says, "I thought I told you to stay away!" Sanhoro says, "Who is this? Is this the Blue Arrow?" JC says, "Why heavens no, what an outrageous insult young sir. Are you color blind, I have no blue or arrows of any sort." Sanhoro says, "A smart ass ha?" JC playfully replies while crossing her arms and cocking her head back, "Profanities of any kind will get you no where." Sanhoro says, "Who are you then. Do you know Devin?" JC says, "What's with all the questions, I didn't raise my hand." Devin smiles and says, "This is Valerie Fox's sister, JC." JC quickly replies, "Younger sister that is!" Devin says, "I gave her the note to give it Valerie. Our mission is over, we can head home." Sanhoro thinks to himself and walks down the trail with the other troops. Devin turns to JC and says, "It was very good to see you again my friend. I hope you know I would never raise a hand to you or your sisters for the help you gave me all those years ago. You are one of my true friends. Take care." JC says, "I know, take care of yourself......Carrot Juice!" Devin rolls her eyes and grins as she walks away.

As Devin, Sanhoro and the two troops walk through the forest, Sanhoro asks Devin, "So do you know Valerie's sister?" Devin says, "Yes! She saved me from being killed years ago." Sanhoro says, "Please tell me more." Devin says, "Well, when I was ten my father, Demon Zeus died. I was considered an outcast of the clan because many of the chief elders disliked me mainly because I had red hair and I was a female. My uncle, Demon Vlad taught me to fight and I soon started stealing to keep myself fed. When I was fourteen I was caught stealing in a small village. The village sheriff whipped me and tied me to a wooden post in the village square. Many of the villagers had no mercy onto me. They threw rotting food and mud all over me. Some guys tried to pull my cloths off and beat me, I was able to keep them away only because my legs were not tied up. I was there for four days, in the cold. JC was about my age at the time and was a student at a secret Wu Shu temple nearby. She looked different back then, her hair wasn't dyed like it is today. She came up to me one night in disguise when I was almost unconscious after some drunks poured beer all over me. JC broke me free and hid me in the monastery where she studied.

Her teachers refused to let me in but JC convinced them to let me hide in the laundry room for a while until I had recovered and the winter had past. I hid there like a wounded beast, never coming out. JC would bring me her daily rations and clothed me with what few cloths she had. I must have seemed ungrateful at first, I ate all of her food and hardly ever spoke to her. She just smiled all along. I vowed when I was there that I would repay her for her kindness and I would remain in touch with her. After I had recovered and gotten stronger, JC helped pay for a pass for me to go to my family's village. By this time we were good friend. She was one of the only real friends I have ever had. I did see JC a few times over the years. I will never raise a hand to her or her family. I may be a thief and a Demon Ninja but I will never betray those who have helped and protected me." Devin's eyes are filled with tears and she looks away from Sanhoro. Sanhoro asks, "Does master Keyoto know of this?" Devin says, "No, it would probably only make him angry. Since Juki and YD disapprove of me, why would it matter? Please don't tell him. My ears are still ringing from the last time." Sanhoro asks, "What is with all the 'Carrot Juice' talk?" Devin laughs and says, "When I was hiding, JC brought me a bowl of carrot soup. I drank it down feverishly. She said my hair was the same color as the soup and she has always called me 'Carrot Juice' ever since." Sanhoro laughs.

Meanwhile at Demon Ninja Island, Demon Keyoto is becoming increasingly concerned with Yellow Demon's fate after he has received news that former CLG Adams has caught a man named "Yuki Danzig". Keyoto knows that YD used that alias when he was a teenager. Keyoto also learns that represenitives of a Kogasuma diamond mine have "bought" this Yuri Danzig. Keyoto orders Edosu and Demon Estrada to investigate. Keyoto paces and thinks about the mission he sent YD on and wonders how he got caught, even under an alias. With new threats from the new CM Lord, the challenge from Valerie Fox over Juki Wu, news that Dark O Fu attacked some "Demon villages", and a report from Gen. Hiroto that states the Demon Island rebuilding has exhausted much of their finances, Keyoto is very angry. He knows he has to use the island as his chief base but he knows he must make his presence known within his homeland. Hiroto has warned him that a sizable minority of his supporters back in the homelands are dissatisfied with all the fighting that has occurred over the last year. Hiroto warns that these people have to see some improvement in their lives or many more will turn on Keyoto. Keyoto isn't pleased to hear this and knows he has to take a hard line with the CM after being deceived by the CLG. Devin and Sanhoro return and tell Keyoto that his challenge to Valerie Fox as delivered. Keyoto questions, "Did you give it to her personally and what did she say?" Devin says, "I gave it to her sister JC, it will be delivered I assure you." Keyoto simmers, "My order was to deliver it to Valerie Fox, not her sister. Very well, I'm sure she'll get the message." Devin replies, "We received information on our way back that Royal Dragon and Juki will soon be married, by year's end." Keyoto pounds the table next to him and shouts, "I have to find YD! She (Juki) must think he's dead." Hiroto says, "She must have believed the rumors we spread about his death. Those were to keep the CM off his trail while he was on his mission. We never knew Juki would be engaged. I confronted her when I saw her in the Union Republic...." Keyoto interrupts Hiroto and yells, "We have to move quick. If YD knows Juki is to marry Royal Dragon, he will be devastated and he will feel betrayed. We have to bring our clan together, we have too much on our plate...."
