Explanation Time II

Demon Keyoto roars, "Give me that mask Devin or I will remove it from your puny hands. That mask is my property, property of the Demon Ninjas. You are not one of us now!" Keyoto sees JC Fox brandish her hand blades and Devin cowers with her uncles mask tightly held to her chest. Keyoto places his hand out and bellows, "I will give you ten seconds to give over that mask girl or else I will kill you." Keyoto signals to Sanhoro. Sanhoro begins to count. Devin turns and looks at JC as she stands ready to defend her friend. Devin, with tears in her eyes, tosses the mask to Keyoto. JC looks at Devin with sadness as she knows how hard this is for Devin. Keyoto then grabs Devin and forcefully shoves her to the ground. He barks, "You should have never shamed us like this.....you traitor, you're despicable." JC steps between Keyoto and Devin, as Keyoto walks forward, JC quickly points one of her blades points to Keyoto's throat.

Keyoto laughs and says, "At least Devin has one friend." Keyoto looks at JC as she keeps the blade point toward his neck. Edosu and Sanhoro slowly walk closer. Orange Spider nears as well. Keyoto says, "I see you are much like your sisters, willing to confront me. Well I have no need to harm your precious friend...Devin. You can have her JC. She's your problem now. As leader of the Demon clan, I hereby give you Demon Devin as your property. I hope I never have to see her miserable face again." Devin looks to Edosu, he gives her a cold glare, the feelings he harbored toward her are no more. Keyoto begins to walk away, looking at Demon Vlad's mask. Suddenly Devin leaps to her feet and grabs a flag-pole.

Both Devin and JC charge the Demons. Devin swinging her flag-pole toward Edosu. JC leaps over Striker Sanhoro's head. Both Edsou and Sanhoro look toward Keyoto. Keyoto raises Vlad's mask in triumph and says as he see Devin and JC vanishing in the distance, "We have what we came for men. We have the location of a valued gold mine. This mask will give us treasure to fund our war for independence for our people." Edosu asks, "Do you want us to chase them down master?" Keyoto laughs, "They have left with nothing. They failed. We are rid of Demon Devin and her traitorous ways. If she ever causes us trouble, I will kill her myself."

A week later JC Fox and Demon Devin arrive to the snowy north, near the Union Republic border. They meet near a mountain border crossing. A mild snowstorm has blown through as they light a fire. JC asks, "How are you doing Dev?" Devin replies, "It will be hard to start over. I know I will be safe in the Union Republic for now. I have no wishes to help the 'Demon' people anymore. They have done nothing but hurt me for my entire life. My mother wanted me dead, Keyoto has banished me without being open minded, the villagers have always treated me as an outcast. I have no home." JC asks, "Are you shocked at how Edosu acted, he was once one of your close friends?" Devin hisses, "I looked at him after Keyoto shoved me to the ground. He had no sympathy in his eyes. Keyoto has broken his will.....you know what I mean." JC laughs, "Oh yes I do. Dev, what are you going to do in the Union Republic? I'm sure Lord Zando may be able to use someone with your history to help fight the Demons?" Devin says while looking over the snowy skies, "I would be in danger at all times from CM agents who do not trust my motives. Right now I have to find a safe place to rest my head at night. I just want to keep a low profile for now." JC sadly looks in the fire and asks, "Will you ever come around and visit my friend?" Devin looks at JC with silence, sorrow comes across her face and she falls to her knees and holds JC's feet and says, "JC, I owe you my life. What you and your sisters have done for me is more then the Demon ever did in my short life. You gave me a home, gave me shelter from enemy forces, defended me from those who wished harm onto me. I would give me life for you in a heartbeat my friend. I consider you family, a sister of sorts. I will visit as much as I can my dear friend." JC smiles and says, "Goody two shoes."

JC returns to her home and start to clean a few of her swords in her tiny room. After an hour of cleaning she hears her sister Valerie enter. JC happily says, "Good afternoon Val! How are you?" Valerie says, "I need one of my swords cleaned and sharpened." As JC looks over the sword Valerie says, "I heard that you and Demon Devin confronted Demon Keyoto and two of his men a few days ago. I had wondered where you were, but Melinda only said you were helping Devin move to the Union Republic. Do you get involved with Devin's troubles?" JC looks up to her sister and says, "I had to help, I went with her as a backup. Orange Spider came with us as well. You know Keyoto wanted to kill Devin and take that dirty old mask." Valerie simmers, "Janie, you should keep out of the Demon affairs. Keyoto is fighting a fierce war now and is under pressure from everyone. He considers Devin as a traitor to his people, I have no idea as to why Melinda helped Devin by sheltering her in the CM after Devin was injured by Erisu. I have no idea as to why you help Devin, she could endanger us." JC smiles and says, "You don't seem to understand much today Val." Valerie piercing eyes widen with anger and hisses, "I will question Mellie's motives on this. I know she helped Devin for you, since you two were friends, but there is something more. Devin knows the inner workings of the Demon clan and some of their secrets. I'm sure our calculating elder sister had that in mind as well." JC says, "So what?" Valerie replies, "The Demons are a force we have to tend to for some time. I still believe Keyoto and some of the Demons are fair and righteous. With you getting involved with Devin and with Melinda shredding Keyoto's arm some time ago, they could give us trouble, trouble we as a family don't need." JC says, "I understand Val. I just feel so sorry for Devin. Keyoto treated her like a slave, with no respect. He gets so mad if anyone says bad things to him...it's almost funny. Well it is funny come to think of it." Valerie asks, "Why are you so loyal to Devin anyway?" JC looks down at her swords in front of her and says, "I don't know, I think I can help her in some say. I feel sorry for her and the sad life she has had. I look at my two sisters and think of how lucky I am. I had no parents to raise me but I had you two. Devin didn't even have that. Her dad died when she was ten and her mother was a drunk who wants to kill her. Keyoto even said many Demon elders wanted to kill her after her birth. Valerie kneels down and holds JC and says, "I understand Jane. You want to fix her, fix her broken soul. There is nothing wrong with that. Honestly, I really respect you for that. If only more people had that quality."
