Summary: Hikodemi is the eldest son of Tokomoti, son of Emperor Chinagu. Hikodemi is also the nephew of Emperor Yadimatchi and Emperor Mo Mello and cousin of Emperor Sanamoto. He spent much of his youth in the royal palaces of the Kogasuma. At the age of eighteen he was sent to the Kogasuma Far West to study. For many years Hikodemi was overshadowed in the Kogasuma royals by his cousins, but after his cousin Sanamoto was toppled by Gen. Fuji, Hikodemi was soon chosen as the leader of the Kogasuma royal house.

During Emperor Fuji's reign Hikodemi maintained good relations with the emperor. When Fuji became frustrated with how the Kogasuma army was lacking without his guidance, tiring of the Kogasuma senate and basic national politics, Hikodemi made a deal to become emperor and appoint Fuji to be commander of the Kogasuma army again. After some reflection, Fuji agreed and stepped aside for Hikodemi.
